Welcome to Hollywood Forever Cemetery’s Day of the Dead Celebration FAQ section! We’re thrilled to have you join us for this unique and vibrant event. Below, you’ll find answers to some common questions to help you make the most of your experience.

Hollywood Forever Cemetery’s Day of the Dead Celebration is a joyful and cultural event that honors the traditions of Dia de los Muertos. It features elaborate ofrendas (altars), music, dance, art, food, and vibrant displays celebrating the lives of the departed.

The event takes place on October 28th, 2023, at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, located at 6000 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90038.

If you have filled out an altar application and are signed up as a participant, you are welcome to bring your own altar set up / ofrenda to the event. To sign up please complete the altar application here – https://www.ladayofthedead.com/altars/altar-sign-up-form/ Altar applications submitted after 10/10/23 will not be included in the printed program but will still be assigned a designated space.

Absolutely! We encourage guests to embrace the spirit of the celebration by wearing Dia de los Muertos-inspired costumes or attire. Face painting and intricate makeup designs are also highly encouraged.

Yes, there are usually ATM’s available for your convenience, but it’s a good idea to bring cash with you to avoid lines, as some vendors may not accept cards.

In case of an emergency, please notify event staff or security personnel immediately. There will be medical personnel on-site to aid if needed.

The event is rain or shine.

The daytime event is from 9am-3pm and the nighttime event is from 5pm-12am.

This event is currently a one-day event but has two separate tickets separating the day and night.

There is no cost to participate in the altar program.
